Frequent Asked Questions

  • What is the cheapest accommodation in the area of the conference, how far is it from the conference site itself, and what does this accommodations include?
The conference hotel ISVW is fully booked already. We have a special arrangement with the Tulip Inn Amersfoort, about 2 kilometers from the conference resort; special conference price € 59,00 euros per night, per person.
  • What is the cheapest way to get from the airport in Amsterdam to the conference area, and approximately who much will the transportation cost?
There is a direct train from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Amersfoort (near Leusden). About 45 minutes; one-way ticket 9,10 euros. Bus from Amersfoort Central Station to the conference about 20 minutes; 1,25 euros.
  • Do contributors have to pay the conference registration fee?
Unfortunately we have little budget for the conference. Despite support from a professional fund raiser, we hardly managed to acquire additional funds. We have only the income from the registration of participants - and the price for participation should remain low, given the audience. So unfortunately, we can not provide compensation for giving masterclasses, workshops and seminars.
  • What is the nearest international airport? Can you tell me how to reach from the airport to Leusden?
The nearest airport to the Conference Hotel ISVW at Leusden is Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
From Schiphol Airport you can take the train to Amersfoort (about 45 minutes). From the train station in Amersfoort take the bus ('Connexion' bus 19) to Dodeweg 8, Leusden (stop 'Begraafplaats Rusthof'; 20 minutes).
  • Is it possible to give a (more 'theoretical' or 'contemplative') lecture at the conference?
Yes, that is possible on this condition (see the Call for Papers):
"Realize a (practical or theoretical) reflection on philosophical practice with the participants. Do it in a way, that the participants can experience the practice you want to reflect on. This is possible because you use audiovisuals or tell about striking examples. Also the way you arrange the seminar can be helpful for the participants to experience situations of the topic you are discussing."
  • Are there any financial compensations for those who will have to fly all the way from South-America?
The conference committee is busy finding funds to support the financial possibilities of our Latin-American colleagues to participate in the 10th ICPP. (The meeting of the participants of the 9th ICPP, last year in Italy, asked us, the dutch Association, to do everything possible to have the Latin-American colleagues participate in 2010.)
We hope (and trust) we will succeed, but of course we cannot be sure right now.
  • Suppose, I am going to give a keynote speach or workshop etc., will I be payed then?
In general, the organizing association, the VFP, does not have the financial means to pay keynote speakers or those who will give a workshop etc., nor the traveling-expenses nor the hotel expenses. The VFP also does not want to raise the conference fee too high.
  • How are the speakers and other contributors being selected?
The conference committee follows two lines concerning the selection of speakers and other contributors to the conference program. First, the committee will ask some colleagues whom are considered 'excellent colleagues' by the committee, to give a Master class, clinic etc. Second, in September 2009, the committee will publish the call for papers. In February 2010, the term of sending in papers will be closed. The committee will mark the papers on the basis of the vision paper which will be attached to the call for papers. See the time schedule.
  • Will there be any other accommodations to stay overnight than the ISVW
Yes, at the start of the registration for participation (September 2009), you can read about more accommodations on this website.
  • Can I get a reduction because I am a student?
The conference fee will be very profitable for all participants. So, it is not possible to reduce the fee for some groups.
