Our donation action is meant for colleagues in countries in Latin America, Asia and Africa. Specially to encourage you to donate for Latin American colleagues, Ran Lahav wrote a letter of recommendation:


Dear Fellow Philosophical Practitioners,

Next year we will meet again for our annual conference on philosophical practice, and I am confident that it will be an exciting event. But one thought makes me sad: that our fellow philosophers from Latin America might not be with us. There are many active philosophers in Latin America – in Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, and elsewhere. Many of them would like to be in touch with us and share with us their unique ideas and experiences. The problem is that most of them don’t have the money to fly to Holland and attend the conference.

Consider this: A ticket to Holland from Italy or from Spain or Germany might cost about 50 to 100 Euros. But a ticket to Holland from Latin America might cost about 1300 Euros! Worse, most philosophers in Latin American country earn no more than 200 or 300 Euros a month. Obviously, for most Latin American it is almost impossible to attend the conference in Holland.

This is sad, and it is unfair to those who live in a remote, poor country. If philosophical practice aspires to be an international movement, we must do everything we can to connect to our fellow Latin American philosophers.

Please help them come to Holland and meet the rest of us. When you pay for the conference, please add a few more Euros as a contribution. If you can spare 30 or 50 Euros, your donation would be most appreciated. Even if you can only donate 5 Euros, this would be very helpful. Every Euro will make a significant difference to a Latin American philosopher, and to a philosophical community in Central or outh America.
